Herd Sire Nomination Terms
To be eligible for entry into the Futurity Herd Sire Champion award, entries for the show classes need to be the progeny of a sire that the owner of the sire has previously nominated and paid the nomination pledge fee. The nominated sire must be registered with the BAS UK Alpaca Registry on or before 14th January 2012 and the progeny entries must have been born in the UK.
Nominating your herd sire is an excellent way of supporting the Futurity whilst promoting your farm and your stock and the Futurity team would like to encourage all sire owners to consider making their nomination pledge. Nomination forms are available within the forms section of this website.
Show class entries are also welcome for alpacas who are not progeny of a nominated sire. See option 3 below. In this instance any points awarded for placings will not go towards the Futurity Herd Sire Champion award, but the alpacas will be eligible for the Judge’s Choice award.
Option 1
Nominating a Herd Sire simply requires the herd sire owner pledging to pay the nomination fee of £300 plus VAT per sire. Once nominated, all of that male’s offspring become eligible for entry into the British Alpaca Futurity 2012 judged show classes with points won going towards the sire’s Futurity Herd Sire Championship competition.
Nominating a herd sire also entitles the herd sire owner to 10% of the prize money won by its offspring during the Futurity Show. The 2012 Futurity Champion Herd Sire will have the highest total of points won by the best performing nine progeny in the show ring, and will be announced during the Celebration Dinner on Saturday 17th March when the winner’s cup and sash will be presented to the owner.
In addition, nominated herd sires will be listed on the Futurity website and in the event catalogue. The owner will also have the right to use the Futurity logo and name in their farm advertising up to the publishing dates of 31st December 2012.
Nomination fees will not be invoiced until entries have been received for the show. If no entries are received, then no invoice will be raised. Show entries will close on 14th February 2012 and sire nominations must be received by 14th January 2012 to meet the copy date for the event catalogue.
Option 2
Discount your nomination fee. Nominate more stud males and the prices become cheaper. If you are able to nominate two or more herd sires the nomination pledge fee is reduced to £200 per sire. This discounted fee applies only if entries are received for two or more of the nominated sires.
Nomination fees will not be invoiced until entries have been received for the show. If no entries are received, then no invoice will be raised. Show entries will close on 14th February 2012 and sire nominations must be received by 14th January 2012 to meet the copy date for the event catalogue.
Option 3 Herd Sire Waiver Option
For situations where stud owners are not willing to pay the nomination fee or the owner of an alpaca to be entered wishes to enter their alpaca without the sire being nominated, the entry will be welcome upon payment of a nomination waiver entry fee of £65 plus VAT per entry. The entry must be born in the UK and the sire of such entries must be registered on the BAS UK Registry on or before 14th February 2012.
In these circumstances such sires will not be eligible for the 10% of progeny prize money, and will not be listed on the Futurity website or in the event catalogue. However the exhibitor will receive prize money and placing awards as per other exhibitors and the entry will be eligible for the Judge’s Choice award.
