Show Rules
The British Alpaca Futurity 2010 judged show classes will be run under BAS Show Rules in place at the time of the show, with the following exceptions:
- All entries must be sired by one of the nominated males, or entered under the sire nomination waiver, with a maximum of three entries per class per exhibitor per nominated male. In the event of classes being oversubscribed, the British Alpaca Futurity reserves the right to reduce entries to a maximum of two entries per class per exhibitor per nominated male. Such decisions will be advised and the exhibitor allowed to withdraw the alpaca of their choice. In this instance entry fees will be refunded as appropriate
- Huacaya and Suri Halter Classes are offered and judged based on colour with Colour Champion and Reserve awards only
- Huacaya and Suri Halter Classes, in Junior, Intermediate and Adult age ranges
- Classes up to 10 entries: rosettes and prize money awarded to 3 places. Classes of 10 entries and over: rosettes and prize money awarded to 5 places. Sashes awarded for Colour Champion and Reserve, Junior Herd Sire Champion and Futurity Champion Herd Sire and Most Successful Small Breeder
- There will be no Supreme Champion award. Junior Herd Sire Champion, Most Successful Small Breeder Prize and Futurity Champion awards will be made at the end of the Celebration Dinner on Saturday 28th February
- Only alpacas entered into show classes or the Select Auction will be permitted in the penning area
- The Sire of each placed entry and prize winner will receive prize money equivalent to 10% of its progeny winnings
- Please note handler’s dress code is black trousers with white shirt. No white overcoats or training shoes (Trainers) will be allowed in the judging ring
- Would exhibitors please note that any disputes arising from the judging must be notified to the Chief Steward or Show Secretary within the time and manner indicated within the BAS show rules manual section ‘The Judge, item No 14’. Any disputes arising and not notified in such manner will be disregarded
- Exhibitors wishing to withdraw alpacas previously entered into a class following commencement of judging on Friday 26th February may only do so for veterinary or welfare reasons and must be approved by the Chief Steward. Withdrawals for any other reason or without the Chief Steward’s permission will render ALL of the exhibitor’s entries invalid, prize money will be withdrawn and placings removed from sire’s winnings
- Voluntary bTB Testing. Exhibitors are encouraged to have their show team tested negative for bTB, and those doing so will be penned in a separate area away from those that are not tested. The Futurity would encourage breeders to have whole herd testing done if possible, and that at least the Futurity show team members are tested with 60 days of the event date of 26th February 2010, and ideally within 30 days of the event date. In these circumstances, if the whole herd testing is not implemented, exhibitors agree to isolate their show team in a separate paddock following the test. Transport used to the Futurity event must also have been cleaned and disinfected prior to loading. Certificates of testing must be delivered to the Futurity no later than 12th February 2010 to allow penning arrangements to be finalised
