British Alpaca Futurity 2009

Herd Sire Nomination

Herd Sire Nominations for the 2009 Futurity are now listed here.

It is an essential part of the Futurity judging system that all entries for the show classes are progeny by a sire that the owner of the sire has previously nominated, and paid the nomination pledge fee. The nominated sire must also be resident in the UK. This ensures that all alpacas entered for the show classes will have been born in the UK.

Nominating your herd sire is an excellent way of promoting your farm and your stock and the Futurity team would like to encourage all sire owners to consider making their nomination pledge. Nomination forms are available within the forms section of this website.

Herd Sire Nominations for the 2009 Futurity are now listed here.

Nominating a Herd Sire simply requires the herd sire owner pledging to pay the nomination fee of £500 plus VAT per sire. Once nominated, all of that male’s offspring become eligible for entry into the British Alpaca Futurity 2009 judged show classes.

Nominating a herd sire entitles the herd sire owner to 10% of the prize money won by its offspring during the Futurity Show. The 2009 Futurity Champion Herd Sire will have the highest total of points won by his progeny in the show ring, and will be announced following the Celebration Dinner on Saturday 28th February where his Winners cup and sash will be presented to the owner.

In addition, nominated herd sires will be listed on the Futurity website and in the event catalogue. The owner will also have the right to use the Futurity logo and name in their farm advertising up to the publishing date of 31st December 2009.

Discount your nomination fee to £350!! The same as option one above but if the owner of the nominated herd sire(s) agrees to offer, free of charge, two stud services per nominated sire for the silent auction of stud services, then the nomination fee will be reduced to £350 plus VAT per herd sire. This fee reduction may also be taken by offering such free auction services from a wholly owned stud male not being nominated for show entries, provided there is at least one free service to each nominated sire. Such other males must be declared on the pledge form with those also being nominated. A total of two free auction services are required per nominated male. A description of this silent auction is available here.

Nomination fees will not be invoiced until entries have been received for the show! If no entries are received, then no invoice will be raised. Show entries will close on 19th January 2009.

For situations where stud owners are not able to pay the nomination fee or the owner of an alpaca to be entered wishes to enter such alpaca without the sire being nominated, such entry can be made by paying a nomination waiver entry fee of £100 plus VAT per entry. Such sires must be resident in the UK on or before 27th February 2009.

In these circumstances such sires will not be eligible for the 10% of progeny prize money, will not be eligible for Champion or Junior Champion awards and they will not be listed on the Futurity website or in the event catalogue. The exhibitor will receive winning prize money and placing awards as per other exhibitors.
